in this random rambling thread we post random pictures

My dog used to make the middle of the bed, his spot. Then I would have to say 'MOVE"
and he'd head for the foot of the bed.

I really wasn't being mean to him - in the middle of the night he would decide to upchuck bile. When he was at the end of the bed, he would upchuck over the side onto newspapers waiting there.

The vet said that meant he was empty and needed two feedings a day. I did just that, didn't help at all.

We got 4 new pullets in August. Columbian Wyandottes, hatched in late April. With our short days and cold weather in the fall and winter, the first one didn't lay until Dec.26. Now they are all laying. The older girls all stopped laying last summer, after a traumatic few months - their rooster died, a couple had some bouts of bad health, and so on. Well, the 4 year old, Bessie, just resumed this week after a 6 month break- perhaps inspired by the young'uns.

Not sure if the little egg is the first one back for Bessie, or the first one for little Squeaky, the smallest and youngest of the pullets; but this was our first ever 5 egg day.

Nice! I bet the small one is from the pullet. I'm excited to get a couple of hens for the summer. Thinking I just might look into getting them a bit older after looking at the size of those bigger eggs you have there!
