You have to have a strong support group. I have that. It will kill you otherwise. Inside the job you acquire a morbid sense of humor. You learn to make fun of death. The stuff that we said to each other would disgust most normal people. Its what you have to do to deal with it though. Once on the outside it gets harder. Those jokes are not ok anymore an the law does not allow you to talk about what you have seen. All you have is the idea that you did save lives. But those faces are long sense forgotten. They do not ingrain in to your mind like the deaths do.

I saw that in real life. Was in a chopper over the water off the coast of Panama City Beach Fl. Was looking down at what I though was a life jacket floating over what I though was a 15 foot fish.. I looked at the scene a minute an it hit me that I was not looking at a life jacket but a woman on a huge air matriss. I cant even guess how big the fish swimming under her was actually.Another past time ruined.
