Oh my goodness! This is more what she looked like when I started riding her, and, she was also a retired parade horse! Made all the parades in the small town of Mapleton back in the 60's. She was a bit bigger, but her back was starting to dip like that. And yes, that's just how I rode her. I let he gallop as fast as she wanted..which was different on different days. Her head was a bit shorter too. Loved that horse.
That horse lived into her 30's! One day, earlier..thinking she was in her late 20's..my MIL was looking out their kitchen window, and saw her>>Puff...(the magic dragon) or bus, because of her color...with...as is with...a beautiful beautiful Appaloosas. That horse looked like a Dalmatian in color. Well, of course my MIL didn't want her older horse pregnant..but nothing could be done at this point. She just figured she was too old to conceive. She ended up letting some neighbors have her as a walk around pet for their younger children. One day.......months later..MIL gets a phone call. She says they looked out their window, saw something laying beside Puff..thought their little calf had gotten out. Well, there it was.. a beautiful little filly, the same color as mom. That baby came back to MIL's home. I sat up on her back a bit too just before she was 2, didn't ride her, just sat to get her the feel of it..she was great to stand there, and walked around a little. They all said she looked like mom did at that young age. Mom lived many yrs. after that, like I said, into her 30's.

Awesome.... that picture up there is skewed a bit. Old computer had a different aspect ratio... I need to adjust it. But yep she was a bit on the lean side when I started riding her. Its amazing how much having a job will make a horse thrive... especially an active horse. Wow your girl had a foal in her twenties... I have heard of brood mares having a good twenty foals by the time they are in their late twenties...

I expect my girl right now to live into her thirties...
