in this random rambling thread we post random pictures

Cynthia ps that scenic is gorgeous is it photo shopped or is that a real volcano in the distance?

I don't know where this is, but I was thinking it's just the way a cloud settled over it appear like a volcano. We get that a lot here over our mountains.

"Galician Romany "Coppersmith" women preparing food in their camp, England, 1911. Their Indian ancestry is now universally recognized, and in comments you can see how they've retained the full colorful skirts of their Lom / Lambada kin in the Punjab." -Suppressed History Archives

The Romany (sometimes called by what is often considered a slur "Gypsies") Originated from India. They are one of the last universally persecuted people in the world. Much of their history has been ignored or outright erased while in much of Europe they are openly discriminated against, denied access to education, health care, and basic human necessities. Then they are further persecuted when some try to survive by breaking the law, as often happens when a marginalized group is denied the ability to make a living. This abuse even happens in democracies. Places like the US tends to be more subtle in the discrimination of the Romany people, but shows like " Gypsy Sisters" only encourages damaging stereotypes that have lead to widespread bullying and attacks on Romany in the United States and Canada.

rarely known fact. The Jewish people were not the only group persecuted in WW2 for specifically their race. The Romany too were rounded up and executed for the crime of simply being born Romany. While Many Jewish people died in concentration camps, up to 80% of Romany were exterminated in concentration camps, in some instances entire regions were wiped out. Unfortunately, the Romany still struggle just getting the basic recognition in Holocaust memorials, largely due to continuing prejudices in Europe.

Not a picture but just as random.

I have a simple video about calibrating thermometers where I talk about how people use ice water to do it. I made that video the beginning of 2011.

I got this comment today...

Quote:
i have been calibrating temperature since 1969 and the temperature you are telling people to calibrate to is not right it is not 32 F Degrees. in ice and water it is 36 F Degrees. and you need to mix up the water and ice. And it should be calibrated to 36 F degrees it is a more constant temperature there is no way it can be 32 F Degrees en less it is solid ice. i show in my 2 videos on YouTube titled correct calibration with ice. In one of my videos i show the ice solid with no water that's when it is 32 F. not when it has water in between the ice.The 2'ND video shows ice and water 36 F at room temperature. it has to be solid ice to be 32 F i have put the water and ice in the freezer and froze it solid the took it out then it was showing 32 F Degrees when there is ice cubs with water it is 36 F at room temperature not 32 F. A lot of you people are not calibrating it right and are telling people wrong. 36 F for your ice point it is more constant temperature with water and ice in a warm room.
I thought the comment was out there till I watched his video. He talks about how ice freezes at 36 degrees but in 1976 thermometers were recalibrate because of global warming...

He looks to have posted that comment on a bunch of ice water videos an made several videos of his own....
