In January we drove through KS to see my son and stopped at the visitor's center off the highway. They were passing out free packages of sunflower seeds (the KS state flower) and I planted a bunch of them when we got home. Some of them reached over 10' tall. This is a photo I took early one morning while the moon was still faintly visible in the sky:
I love the Giants. I plant them every yr..but .. but...mine are only about three inches tall right now. :) Won't see anything like this until around Aug. Without the moon though..really is a nice shot.

Thanks Cynthia....good luck with yours

Someone said these are Peonies? Really? If so, we don't see this type here. We see these..now I have to go find a photo of mine from last yr. because I didn't get any on my bush this yr.! I'm thinking, too much rain, that bush grew taller than I've ever seen it during the rain.
These pink flowers are beautiful! Looking...looking for mine. I love peonies!

I think you're right DD...they look like this picture on Wikipedia (they called them Chinese Peony):

My mom always had a peony bush in our yard and ours looked more like this:

Both peony's just different types

Oh Oh, hope I don't cause an international incident saying they were "Japanese," Forgive me for I am old and forgetful.
