Gargoyle, what are the birds that you have? are they a sweet gentle breed?
A friend is thinking about getting a few chickens, I suggested Buff Orpingtons, Barred Rocks, Sussex ...and what you have because they are so handsome.

Mine are Columbian Wyandottes. Dual purpose, docile, excellent brown egg layers. if you handle them from when they are young they are very friendly and not skittish. (if you don't, then they'll be chicken and hard to pick up). It's a cold hearty breed, they don't like it when it gets above 80 or 85 degrees. I generally set up a cooling fan and often give them a very shallow pool (1/2 of water) to stand in and cool off. (But they dirty the water and then drink from it, so it requires frequent changing.)
 
I've always liked the looks of Wyandottes but wondered how heat-tolerant they were. Good to hear 1st hand how they deal.
 
rebel, love you video..and 6 bucks? Really? You are a handy man, like my husband, and also know how to make a budget work I'm sure!
