Elemes never saw one with a blue tail- not that I would stay around to look. Is that rare or something?

Five-lined skink, I believe. We also have them here. They love to eat termites and ants.

I thought it was a garter snake. I don't suppose you know anything that loves to eat wasps and yellow jackets? I try not to harm bees.
