This is what a power transformer exploding looks like after it's struck by lightning.

I've seen that up close in AZ. Heard the lightning hiss as it came out of the sky. Frightening and exhilarating at the same time

That's the substation by Williams Field (formerly Williams AFB) in Mesa looking due South from my house near the 202 and 60 interchange. Monsoon is my absolute favorite time of the year for photography. I hope we don't have another stinker like last year.
