Pasha, is that for winter feed for the animals or for something else?
I use hay as a litter for geese, they sleep on it and often eat it. And I want to have a stock because I bought goats. For goats I dry branches with leaves too. And I bought a couple of bags of oats and I always have different grains. Goats I have for the first time, before that I had only a fowl.
Perhaps, not all hay will be used for the winter, but it is better, when it is much, than if it suddenly does not suffice.
The ducks and chikens are too on a hay-litter. Of course i mowe the hay too, but the grass here is not enough. Now I have 2 tons of dry hay, which I bought, and about 500 kg of hay, which has remained since last year and mowed grass. I put all mowed grass on the attic of geese-house, and it dry there.
(this picture is not correct yet, it`s a spring picture, when i olny began to mowe a grass).
For the goats i don`t use the hay as a litter, i use a sawdust. I don`t have much sawdust, but it are free, because I sometimes saw much wood. Therefore, while I do not want to buy sawdust, I hope to get by somehow.
