I free range my ducks. Next spring will be the first time my drake runs with his adult daughter (and 5 other unrelated hens). Will this be a horrible thing? I don't want to start having to separate my ducks but I have no idea what the result of this possible breeding may be. My birds are not show quality and i do not sell them as such. My only current market is for meat.

No a drake and his daughter is not bad as long as you don’t plan on breeding the offspring agian and agian, the result of this possible breeding will not be like a 3 eyed duck or anything like that it will be fine for meat

From what I understand, it would take several generations of breeding closely related birds to become a problem. So 2 related birds in a flock should be just fine.

What about brothers to sisters? Or sons to mothers? I got one real nice drake this years hatch, and I just jacked your thread sorry!

And you never know...this linebreeding just might produce something that is show quality...
