A friend of mine was concerned about having too many chicks of her own brood from one rooster, them growing up to have more babies fromt he same rooster and inbreeding problems, chickens not laying stuff like that...does anyone know about this as a problem? should I always buy chicks from somewhere else rather than have my broody hens hatch eggs?

Line breeding is used by show breeders to keep their lines pure and to bring out the best in the next generations. I don't go more then 5 gens down before putting in new blood, but that is just me. Putting in new blood can bring out the worst in the 2 lines or the best.
