Additionally personification and anthropomorphism play a huge part in why some cultures approach breeding animals differently. Western civilization has many things that are taboo and as such apply those same ways of thinking to things around them.
 
In and line breeding are powerful tools to enhance and set positive characteristics within a family and a tool to eliminate undesirable traits and characteristics. During the process when an undesirable trait, usually a negative recessive trait in a homozygous pairing, is eliminated from the line by culling the offspring along with the sire and dam that contributed those genetics it can only be replaced by more positive and desirable genetics.

Individuals that apply human mores and believe in/line breeding to be taboo are ignorant. Without these breeding techniques all domestic animals would still be nothing than barnyard mutts.
