My French copper Maran’s legs are red! Pin feathers are emerging but this looks very angry to me . Does he need treatment . This has been going on for a month or more with no improvement or feathers . Any suggestions? Thank you!

Looks fine to me. It's not unusual for roosters to have red legs, it's due to hormones

The red flush is likely hormones. I do see some new feather growth and what looks like where some have been broken too. Not that uncommon in feather footed birds.

The legs are a bit dry, if you wish, you can apply a little A+D ointment or NuStock Cream to the legs to help soothe them. The NuStock may also deter hens if they are plucking at his feet.

Thank you so much . He is 9 months old and truly cock of the walk . I haven’t seen any pulling or pecking on him . I understand the hormone thing . I will try the ointment . He is my fave rooster . Many thanks & Merry Christmas
