It is fabulous!! I do think that having a thick-walled styrofoam container helps in keeping the temps steady. One tiny, tiny cup of water at the bottom keeps the humidity right at 45%. In fact, I think I could probably just put a few drops of water in the bottom each morning and it would stay steady at around 40% which is about where I'd really like to keep it.
I had 3 dozen egg in it and they were manually turned (in a carton) twice a day. I know that more is better, but I wasn't there to turn them myself and relied on Granny Donna to do it
I was having some fertility issues at the time...not enough roo to go around
....and knew there would be some clears. After we got back from vacation, I candled and tossed all but 10. I put them in my Rcom Suro King to hatch and we hatched 8 of the 10. However, I think next time, I will just leave them in the styro bator and let them hatch in there.
My only complaint with the Rcom Suro King is the lack of height for hatching chicks. I wish there was a plastic "extension" that could be added at lockdown that would give the chicks more head room.
I believe that I will start incubating in the Rcom and then put them in the styro bator for hatching. The temp swings are less than they were when I first fired it up. I highly recommend the kit.
