Incubated eggs are changing colors

Hi, I'm in the of some advice. I have a Muscovy momma that has abandoned her nest due to something invading it. So I brought her eggs in and put them in a incubator, I have keep them the temperature and the humidity I'm suppose to. And all have active chicks in them. But I've noticed in the last couple of days discoloration around the top of a couple of my eggs, and today when rotating one had a couple of dark spots on the side. When I held it to the light the spots became a lot lighter than the rest of the egg. I'm new at this could someone please explain to me what is going on? Thanks

I wish I could help you but I have never hatched any duck eggs. I have hatched hundreds of chicken eggs. I hope someone will know. Good luck and have fun...

The discoloring/splotches your seeing is not uncommon in duck eggs. I don't know for sure what causes it but in a hatch-a-long last year I think we were leaning toward it being from moisture in some patches and the translucency of the shell also makes the air cell more visible.
What day of incubation are you on? What are you keeping the humidity at?

Those eggs were laying flat and not in a turner. You should incubate the same way. Are some of those sitting the wrong way in the incubator? Should be point end down. Air cells up.

Chicken eggs are somewhat the same and incubated pointy end of the egg down. The pictures do look like the pointy end is up.

The heat 99.5 . The humidity 60 percent.

No the eggs aren't laying flat, and yes the air pockets are up

The heat 99.5 . The humidity 60 percent.

Do you have an idea of how far along the development is?

60% is high even for waterfowl unless they're on lockdown. I run my incubators around 45% for the beginning of incubation and then increase it to around 65% for lockdown and hatch. In a styrofoam incubator I run it about 10% lower than that.

If you are able to hand turn the eggs waterfowl do better incubated on their side than vertical.

And Thank you, it helps to know that they may change color...I normally leave the egg hatching to the moms...or least I prefer it that way,they know what their doing ...lol
