incubated for the first time and i got 6 roosters out of 9 eggs????

HELP!

What did I do wrong--I set 9 eggs ---followed instructions to the T (in my homemade incubator) --they all hatched but I got SIX roosters?

I am about to try some araucana eggs and if there is anything I need to know or correct please let me know....

Completely normal. Occasionally you might get 100% roosters.
I got 8/10 cockerels on a hatch last year. Unfortunate luck, but that's the way the dice fell.

Yep, there's no way to influence the gender of an egg. When it's created, whatever chromosome it got from the hen determines what the gender will be and there's no way to change it.
