Incubating And Setting Eggs By The Moon- Aug 27-28

It is a buff Orpington. I will have to take pictures. Can't wait for those babbles next week. Many pictures to come. How many chicks are you trying to hatch? I had six, and five are viable I believe.

Oh cool I like orp their a good breed have you seen the English orp they are so round lol, me I am incubating 15 eggs a mix of silkies,Cochins, frizzle and sizzles

Aw...love sizzles and fizzles. I have a clean legged frizzle that is really sweet would love more someday! I have silkies too, although my gorgeous splash silkie roo and one of my black is going to a friend for a while. The roo is so loud for such a little thing and hates my kids, so trying a d'uccle roo with my flock.

Let's hope they all hatch for you! So exciting

Well I'm on lockdown I sure had a difficulty getting humid to where it needed be but finally got it situated so does anyone know when pips should start

Did you candle before lockdown? Did they all make it to lockdown? Mine go on lockdown today too, but I'm waiting until tonight. How did you get the humidity high enough? I got some felt just incase I need extra help w/ the humidity.

Yeah I candled and they all had good shadows moving for humidity I kept having to squirt water through a tube I have running through a tiny hole amazingly I noticed it went up later today 2points it's funny how we worry about our eggs I do anyways....day 1-18 I worried that they would be quitters now I'm worried they will drown but I know that's not likely but I still got my fingers crossed and said a prayer for them.

I had the humidity rise a bit to high and was concerned chicks might drown when pipping so I got a pice a paper folded it in half and set it to where it is between the top lid and bottom of the bator, just enough to lower it to 68-70% humid and it seems to be holding fine now

I did put mine in lockdown last night, I removed 2 obviously dead ones, that leaves me w/ 10 and I don't have much hope for them. I didn't see anything moving inside, but kept all the ones I couldn't see through (not the shell but the egg) so figured if I couldn't see through there must be something solid in there. I got the humididty up to about 70

Oh my... so I had one that was due this monday and 4 ( was 5 but one dud) due Wednesday... well the one due Monday is starting to pip under mama. Just was cleaning out the coop and was stuffing some more hay in her side of the coop and saw the little beak poking out. Wow is that early or what. Hope she will sit until Wednesday for the other 4!!
