Day 1 is 24 hours after you started incubating. It doesn't matter if it was morning, noon or night. If you set them on a Friday, they should start hatching on a Friday. Bantams do sometimes hatch early, though, so don't be surprised. Lockdown is usually day 18.
Well about three weeks ago I successfully hatched japenese jumbo quials and my kids absolutely loved them. That was the first time I ever incubated and it was a very good experience. .. now my kids are very excited about the bantams...
One of my bantam chicks hatched... but there appears to be some blood from the egg and some blood on the back of the chick.... chick has come out of the shell without any intervention is moving and making noise..... is he going to make it or is that normal.... first time incubating.
