I’m incubating 11 chicken eggs, they are on day 18 I got a incubator that has 2 red dots one on top and one on the bottom so I have to take them out for them to hatch or what??

Let them do their thing don't take them out until every egg has hatched, or thrown out from being a bad egg, don't put them in a brooder until you think they've all hatch and are all ready to go. Make sure they have a heat lamp in the brooder and they stay nice and cozy (not too hot) :)
Okay thank you

How exciting! :wee

What incubator are you using? Yes, if your bator has red plugs inside air holes they NEED to be removed a LONG time ago, not just for hatch as this is how they get oxygen/exchange gasses. Are you able to post pics? Have you candled your eggs to see if the embryos are still alive yet?

What breed are you incubating? Where's your temp and humidity been? Are you using calibrated therm/hygrometer or relying on built in ones?

Also.. careful what folks suggest... as someone clearly misinterpreted your question.. telling you to leave CHICKS in the bator until hatched has nothing to do with the red plugs you are asking about. We all make mistakes and that's what's great about having a whole community of support! :thumbsup

Should have removed both a LONG time ago. Remove them and throw them away... I've hatched hundreds of chicks and those are pretty useless.

You will also want to remove the turner now and lay the eggs with their lowest dip in their air cell facing up. They will still draw down a LOT more over the next few days.

And few of the eggs you can’t see inside no more what does that mean?
It either means the embryo is filling it too well or sometimes when the embryo passes.. it may just look like a dark egg. Honestly candling isn't my strong point. If they pass the sniff test and don't have any obvious funk coming from them.. they go into lock down here. I've never YET had an egg explode and cause an issue for other hatching eggs.

Does that model have a fan built in or is it still air? If it has a fine you should still see hatch close to day 21 IF the readout on the display is accurate. If it has no fan... then it would be a late hatch as still air incubation requires temp to be 101.5.

Due to it being only 11 eggs in that bator... the embryos may still be fine. If the bator was full of growing embryos, the red plugs left in would cause heavy decline in hatch rate... essentially due to too little oxygen exchange.

But the other truth is that despite how many imperfect incubation situations there have been.. Life finds a way! :wee

Happy hatching! :fl:jumpy:jumpy

I took one of the red plugs out and I check them this morning I put my light on top of the eggs and I saw them moving but the egg is full tho tomorrow makes 21 days so they should be hatched tomorrow or tonight but do you think I should take both of them red plugs out because there is a few of the eggs that ain’t fulled the egg yet they moving tho so idk what to do about the red plugs it wouldn’t hurt the other eggs that isn’t full yet? do I even need the red plugs??
