Incubating Duck eggs with Chicken eggs?

I am a total newb...I was just wondering, is it possible to incubate both duck eggs and chicken eggs at the same time...in the same incubator?

or do they have different requirements?

I've never tried it, but the duck eggs take longer to hatch so that would be an issue.

Duck eggs require higher humidity levels than chickens do. I've only hatched ducks once, but I seem to recall the number of days is longer too...

My book from Brinsea says they both require the same humidity, 40-50%.

the reason I asked was, My friend is possibly buying an incubator, along with duck eggs to hatch , and I am thinking hatching some chicks.

I was hoping I would be able to share an incubator so that I don't have to buy a incubator that holds 50 eggs when I am only hatching 3

If you have a seperate hatcher you can incubate them together. I always do and have never had any problems.

I had a problem hatching duck eggs with chicken eggs befor. The bactiria from the chicken eggs killed the ducks wene they hatched

I'm not sure why that would happen, but couldn't you do a very quick clean of the incubator with a mild detergent then put the duck eggs back in? I had to take my incubator apart during my first hatch, and I still got an 80% hatch on shipped eggs.
