I just purchased a used incubator from
a friend. I set 48 eggs last Sunday (8 days ago) and while adding water today I realized I didn’t set the eggs with the small end down. Should I leave them be or flip them? Will this affect my hatch if flipped on day 8?

When incubating eggs in an upright position, the small end always goes down. You set them with the small end down so they are set correctly.

My bad. Just realized I wrote my post wrong. I initially set them upright, broad end down and am wondering to leave them or flip? This is my 3rd hatch, I don’t know what I was thinking when I put them in 🤦🏼‍♀️.

The sooner you get them switched to the pointy end down, the better. Do not leave them sitting with the pointy end up.

Put them pointy end down. They should be fine only being a week into incubation. The concern is the pressure of the developing embryo pressing on the developing air cell, restricting its growth.

Or you can incubate them on their side. That's the way I always do mine but I hand turn them.

I have also only ever incubated on sides, but this new incubator doesn’t allow. Give and take!
