Hi. Need some help. I have someone who wants to give me turkey eggs but the mom has been laying on them for 22 days. I would have to go get them, and bring them home. Should I put them in an incubator on the ride which is about 45 minutes? Will they still be able to hatch if I put them in an incubator at home? Any advice is appreciated. I would like them to make it safely home and have a good hatch percentage with them. Thank you.

Put them in a styrofoam container wrapped in blankets, and they will make the trip in great condition. Good luck for a successful hatch.

Hello! The eggs will be fine for a few hours without heat, but just do your best to keep them from jostling around too much on the ride home.

Thank you everyone. I feel better about the eggs leaving the mom and hatching them myself now. I will use nature right 360 incubators to hatch them. I read that the humidity should be a bit higher than with chickens…about 55% from day 1 to 25 and 75% the last 3 lockdown days. Is this info correct? I have hatched chickens before, but not turkeys. Want to give them the best chance possible.

I incubate my turkey eggs at 30% to 35% and lock down at about 70%. IMO, 55% is too high to incubate at.

Thanks everyone. We made it home with them (about 20) and some are in the incubator on lockdown and some didn’t look big enough in the egg for lockdown…so they are in another incubator with a turner….maybe for about 3 days…then lockdown. Did the best we could! Thanks for all you help.
