Incubating eggs...Anyone want to join me

Hi, I had just put my eggs in the incubator and would love to have someone to join me on same day

Hi, I just put 18 eggs under my broody hen last night. She is sitting on 6 BW americaunas, 4 light sussex, 1 BCM and 1 wheaton marans, 2 black australorp, and 4 blue andalusians. This is my first time hatching, so I am hoping my hen sees it thru to the end.

What are you hatching?

Anna, I do know that the blue ones I have are EE's But the white one is a wild guess. We'll see when it is time at hatch day.As you can see in my profile pic is RIR's & EE's. I had gotten them from mail order out of Texas from a hatchery.

I'm in. i just set 5 eggs in my new Brinsea mini advance about 30 minutes ago (sat june 11). mixture of breeds - predominantly RI reds. first time to hatch eggs in about 35 years and i am just as excited as i was when i was 15.

Garydogwood, I don't blame you cause I'm the same way but with my incubator I had just built it and was having hard time keeping temp just right.So now I made my mind up to just go for it and see what happens. I had set 3 eggs today. But I keep going back & forth to make sure I don't screw it up in anyway. This is my first time ever doing something like this. But I said why buy chickens when you can hatch em on your own without buying a incubator. I guess next month I'll buy a wafer thermostat and install it into the same incubator.

yea, the other good thing about setting today is the due date will be on july 2 which is the 4th of july holiday weekend so have an extra day (monday) to look after the new chicks before heading back to work. i plan to take lots of pictures and video of the happy event when the time comes. my wife tried to act like she was not interested but i can tell she is getting more and more excited as well. showed her some youtube videos and i can guarantee she will be sitting right there in front of the incubator when the peeping starts and will not move until all chicks are hatched safely. hope we got good eggs. will candle them next saturday and update the thread.

Sounds like your on the ball with what your doing much more than me.

. And plus you got someone interested in it that it wasn't such a good idea and now your wife has a new outlook on it huh? I'll do the candling with you if I can wait that long since this is my very 1st time ever doing this in my 53 yrs. Hope it all goes well for you with your incubating.

Sorry everyone but I had to abort the mission to incubate the eggs cause the thermostat wouldn't hold a steady temp. And I can't go another night awake trying to keep the temp just right. But I just ordered a wafer thermostat off ebay.So by next week the Incubation will be back in progress. I hear the wafer thermostats are alot better than the water heater thermostats.Been doing some more research on thermostats and which ones would hold a definate temp and alot of people has said the wafer thermostats are way more a better buy and more reliable.

I would love to join you, but not sure if this will work??? A friend of mine has 300 Pheasant eggs he wants me to incubate. I already have 70 Pheasant eggs in the incubator with 3-1/2 doz chicken eggs. I put the Pheasant eggs in the incubator a few day before I put the chicken eggs in as they take a little longer incubation period. Now I'm thinking about putting the chicken eggs in my styrofoam incubator and leaving the Pheasant eggs I have in the incubator in the bottom tray and the new Pheasant eggs in the upper trays. I also use my incubators as hatchers. The eggs are due to hatch around June 23rd / 24th. Any suggestions?
