Should the eggs be cleaned before Incubating? I have eggs and my hens will not sit on them. So I'm going the DYI route. Any other suggestions for incubating are welcome.

How dirty are the eggs? You should not wash eggs because it will wash off the "egg bloom", this is the protective layer on the egg that keeps bacteria from getting in the egg. I would not recommend hatching eggs that are filthy and have poop on them.

No, they don't. In fact, most people would recommend against it. I've done both, cleaned really muddy eggs and also just let them be, and both hatched fine.

All of the eggs "appear" clean as is. There may be a small speck here and there on 2 or 3 out of 100 but other than that they look clean.
