Incubating goose eggs

I use cooling after day 5 for 15 minutes daily to help the egg loose moisture. Dont mist as getting the egg to loose water (and required weight) is the main problem.

And goose eggs will last longer than 4 days, if left to their own devices, a goose will lay up 12 eggs or more before setting...laying one egg every 2 days. Keep them relatively cool (around 60*) and be sure to turn them at least once a day while you are 'holding' them for incubation.

Hi folks, i have two toulouse eggs in my incubator, they are now at day 29, one pipped last night. i started with four, two i junked at 12 days as they were candling clear. This is my second attempt only managed to hatch one last year but they were posted & may have been the reason. But....heres what i did so far. Lay eggs on thier sides & turn three times daily, turn end to end keeping pointy end slightly lower than big end. I mist every morning before & after turning so the whole egg gets wet using a spray bottle i keep in the incubator so the water is the right temperature ( got that tip from someone else ) I candled at 9 days & could just see veins in one so left them till day 12 when i had two with veins, of the other two one was still clear the other had a blood ring so had been fertile but died. I only cool them for 5 minutes, my temp is at 99.5 & humidity has been 55 - 60. have increased humidity this morning by placing wet teatowels in the incy & will report back on the results, fingers crossed.

Congrats on the new baby.

Congrats on the new gosling. But you need to go and read Pete's guide to incubation and hatching. You will find it is a whole different way that what you have done. The eggs are not losing enough moisture to make it through internal pip and to external pip. Please read his guide!

Yeah, having opened the second egg yesterday i discovered a perfectly formed but dead gosling, how do i get to petes guide please ? Pleased to report the one which did hatch is doing well with two hen chicks for company...do hope its a goosey !

Thanks for the link, very interesting reading, makes me wonder how even one managed to hatch, i will certainly follow petes guide next time, just setting up the incy now for a dozen maran eggs.
