Incubating in my bra: An experiment.

I was hatching eggs in Jan. and had a power outage, I put the eggs in my bra, and used heat packets to the outside. Power came on I put the eggs back in incubator. (I think I had 3 in there. A few years ago I was on the last 2 days of a hatch and had a power out and took the eggs to bed with me, power was on the next morning and they went back in incubator and hatched.

Where I do not think this kind of hatching is a good idea, is eggs should not be joggled about. Especially the first week or so, just something to keep in mind.

This looks awesome. Thinking of just trying with one egg. OP, have you tried since then? If so, how did things work out?

I posted earlier in thread. I've tried this. Eggs are fine and on schedule until about day 10...after that, the joggling around is too much...at least for me...in a 3 floor Victorian that's all stairs...4 if you include basement...and we use every floor. With 3 small children, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 4 aquariums, a koi pond, chickens, and a lot of commitments, I just moved around too much. I did transfer some bra eggs into an incubator at around 10 days that someone gave me but the thermostat went and it got too hot...killed them :( So I built my own incubator and put the last shirt baby in there after being in my bra over a week. He hatched just fine :) I do think it's possible to incubate eggs like this but I think it best that someone on medical bed rest take on the task. They can pile on blankets, maintain temps, and eggs won't be jostled around.

I'd also recommend starting earlier in year (depending on where you live). I attempted the incu-boob-er method in April into May. I would wear a tank, tee, sweatshirt, puffer vest, and puffer jacket to keep temp up as high as possible. That was all well and good on cold days...but when temps rose to 80s and above, and I had to sit like that in the sun on the tee-ball field...and cook and clean and such....I was sweating buckets. My core temp went up but so did the humidity! Id recommend Feb into March if you're contemplating this and live in a 4 season location. ...

Also, for those less endowed, I bought sport bras a size too big and grabbed a scrap of flannel large enough to completely surrround and cover eggs and stuffed organic cotton (like the stuff you pull out of vitamin bottles) under and around eggs. It kept them from knocking together and prevented any sweat (which is saline) from touching the eggs. It also maintained a more even temp for all the eggs and not just those against my body. And beware, it goes without saying that when you have eggs in your bra, the entire population suddenly feels compelled to hug you haha

What a silly thread.
A bit disappointing with the lack of pics.
Show us those incubators.:pop
Does have me thinking this method might finally convert me to a more hands on hatching approach though.
