Incubating in my bra

... sad news guys. Opened up a small hole in the air sack and didn’t see any movement, so I opened up a bit more and saw she was DIS 😭😭😭

it looks like she had gotten really far along, but hadn’t internally pipped or absorbed the yolk. She wasn’t malpositioned, so she probably passed away fairly close to hatching. I’m actually pretty sad about it, it was not an emotionally easy eggtopsy

So close! If you have any insight of what might have happened, feel free to share but no pressure. Gotta take time to morn. :hugs
My best guess rn is the humidity needed during lockdown. The two lockdown concerns were that and also that I couldn’t stop moving just so the egg wouldn’t move, but she managed to get into the right position anyways. I estimated the humidity in my bra to be around 40% which is apparently fine for growing in the egg, but I wonder if the membrane was just a little too tough to tear through. Does that sound right to anyone?

GUYS GUYS GUYS A PIP!!!! One of the girls in my bracubator experiment has a quail egg that is HATCHING
