Hey Beth ..... Before I left for work I checked on my broody Light Sussex (day 21 here).

I heard peeping but did not see anything. I hope when I get home tonight I will see some babies.

She (broody) has lost so much weight.

I sure do hope you have a good hatch. Can you believe my Misty( Suedes daughter the splash orp) that hatched the 8 week olds has gone broody. What is up with these girls lately?

I do not have a spot ready for her at all until I get the 17 week olds intergrated into my flock. Then I have to move the 8 week olds there and her to their pen. Ugh that means my time table for a new floor in the section they are going into has to move up drastically in this heat. Scott is right we all should build an 80 foot long building and just devide it to begin with. My coops all join on the hill and have tin roofs. They look junky to me now. They are safe but definitely not pretty. I sooo wanted pretty too. Gloria Jean

I hear ya Gloria Jean! I have had sooo many broodies this spring/summer. Are you kidding me .... Misty is broody again???? Oh my, that girl must love to sit on her fluffy fat ol butt.

These chickens do seem to mess up our time schedules, don't they? What eggs did you put under her?

I hope Scott does get his build the way he would like it. I would love to see it. As long as they are safe, Gloria Jean, that is the important thing!

Come on Lady Hawk ..... we wanna see the babies!

I have not given her any eggs yet... My Dr. said to let him know when I had a broody and he would give me some wellsumer eggs,Humm that doesn't look like it is spelled right. Oh well I have too much to do right now and am still having health issues from my surgery in Dec. enough already.
If I could find an old large dog cage I would outfit it for her. Oh well, I will be checking tell it and sell it etc. to see if I can find one. I would love to have a few more dellies but who knows what i will do right now. Gloria Jean

Gloria Jean, Wellsummers are beautiful- grab those eggs and let's go, Misty!!! And your coops can't look worse than mine-especially the one I am building myself- it is not plumb- I don't think one single anything came out straight.

Kathy, I hope you come home to a batch of beautiful little babies - and you can get your girl plumped up again. I hope this broody thing doesn't mean anything mystical, like all our chickens think hard times are coming so they are making as many Sunday dinners and good egg layers for us as they can!

Where is Cetawin, and why do I think her absence is a very bad sign?
