Incubating quail eggs for the first time : )

We cracked them open and mixed them with our scrambled eggs this morning...and they're fertile!! Woohoo! Once the eggs get bigger we'll start hatching again! : )

My quail are laying!! They turned 6 weeks yesterday and today I got 2 perfect eggs!
Awww im so exciting for you im PATIENTLY waiting for ours to start laying do you have a laying box in your cage? and do you have heat or light on them?

I don't a heat lamp on them anymore. Its 70 degrees here now but when it was in the 30s I gave them a heat lamp. I have them in a rabbit hutch that has an enclosed box area with shavings, that's where they are laying.
I got more today, I bet that last one hurt! Lol.

I bet that did..lol poor thing!! im waiting so patiently for mine to start laying...I haven't even seen them do the deed... :( Its about40-60 here it varies we are having very bi polar weather... How exciting for you though!!! I have them in a cage in our shed that's closed up so its not windy or anything in there for them

How old are your birds? Maybe you can add a light inside the shed during the day if its dark in there.

Hello all. Ok, I have 68 jumbo coturnix quail eggs in the incubator, it is day 11 and I went in this morning and temp was up to 102! I have read that the eggs start to generate and retain more heat as they mature but I want to know if this happened to anyone else or is my incubator just fluctuating? I really hope they will be ok since I have no idea how long the temp was that high!

How can you tell if they are fertile or not?
