Incubating quail eggs for the first time : )

I would let them sit room temp for 12 to 24 hours before you put them in the incubator. Then just see what developed, never hurts to try.

I have some Texas a&m eggs I'm trying to hatch. It seems as though the temperature in my incubator fluctuates to much(looks to be between 97-99). How much will this affect my hatch rate if I can't achieve a stable temperature.

I think if its a little lower they may hatch a day late or so. I hatched my third batch out over the weekend and found keeping my still air between 99 and 100.5 was better.

I try to keep it as close to 100 as possible but I work 10 hour days and when I get back home the temperature has usually dropped from what it was set at that morning.

If you can't keep the temp stable, you're kind of peeing in the wind. You may still get eggs to hatch so don't give up but fix your thermostat/venting issues before you try again.

Where do you have it at? I started my incubator in our dining room and my temps were fluctuating like crazy. I moved it into a closet and it keeps the temp steady.

How exciting I read all these comments and seems like you had a good hatching rating!! I am raising 6 A&M`s right now and in about 3 weeks they will start laying and I think im going to try breeding and incubating after that...We are going to use ours for eggs and meat birds!! Cant wait to try them I have actually never tried quail!
any tips!?

Has anyone heard if the little giant incubator is a good one to use? that's what our local feed store has on sale! :)

Marissa mine are the same age as yours! : ) I have 2 little giants and I love them. I really think the key to them working good is where you have them in the house them set up. So far I've done 3 batches of quail and 4 chicken eggs with success. And yesterday I just set 9 mixed chicken eggs a friend gave me. I'm addicted! Lol
