Incubating quail eggs for the first time : )

How old were your boys before they started crowing? I have 3 that stand up real tall and act like they're going to but nothing comes out.

Some are more vocal than others. I've raised them from hatch to butcher without ever hearing them crow and other times they are driving you crazy from 5-6 weeks on crowing every 5 minutes. If just want to make him crow, take his girls away or take him from them and he should start in after a little while.

When did y'all start putting your quail outside? I want to move my 6 a&ms out of the brooder into our breeding pen outside but I don't know what kind of temps they can tolerate. They are 4 weeks and fully feathered. I think our highs this week will be 50s and 60s and lows in 40s.

The big kids are outside now exploring their new home. They're 4 weeks now and I know I have 2 boys for sure, they are trying to crow. So far so good. Only flaw I see with my set up is maybe I bought too small of wire for the flooring. Some of the poop isn't falling through. I have a small heat lamp I'll turn on at night for them. Now I can move my 2 week and week olds into the big brooder in the garage and out of the house! : )
