Incubating quail eggs for the first time : )

I put some treats inside for my quail and the male makes weird noises to get his ladies to come eat. So cool! His really nice to his girls!

I've put mine outside today and found 2 cats at the hutch.... how do you deal with cat issues?

I love he little noises they make. So cool. Especially the little cricket sounds they make.

The cats get permanently relocated, usually to the local shelter.

I let my Brittany run around the coops and rabbit hutches. Sure he points a lot, but the scent keeps cats away.

I have a dog... I'll make sure he comes with me next time I go out and check on them!

He chased away a white cat earlier and I haven't seen it since. However, a black cat keeps returning. It has a collar and a bell though, so it is definitely a pet. If it doesn't stop I might look into getting a trap to catch it and find its owner.

We have a lot of outside pet cats in my neighborhood. My quail are going on my inside porch, but my chickens have dealt with the odd cat...they marched right up to one cat (which is a BIIIG panther-looking male) and stood up as tall as they could, and pecked at him. He was out numbered. lol. He avoids my yard when the girls are out, and the other neighborhood cats know I have a dog-they come to the front yard, and stay FAR away from the back.

I stuck some bamboo sticks around the hutch and put plastic bags on them. Not seen a cat since.

I have a few questions storing eggs before they go into a incubator where do you keep them and do you have to turn them or anything while they are waiting to go into the incubator? ( Im waiting till I have enough to do a batch) Also I have a few more questions but this one is my main one right now because I have a few waiting to be incubated thanks

I keep my eggs on a slant by putting a book under the box of eggs and at about 55* with some humidity if possible. They lose fertility each passing day but can be held 7-14 days (depending on the source) and still be successfully incubated.
