Hello All,

We have a group of Quail (photo shown of our actual birds) - 1 boy with 12 females - we are getting plenty of eggs so thought that it may be nice to hatch the eggs off to a) check fertility and b) to provide us with more Quail as our neighbour has a boy that we had to remove from the group after he was bullied. My questions are as follows:

1) I have several Incubators that I have switched off, but would a Brinsea Octagon be beneficial for hatching Quail?

2) Is it too late in the season for me to hatch Quail?

3) My usual set up for poultry is: Temp- 36.5 and Humidity 45% - is this correct for Quail too with the difference being that the Cradle is removed on day 14?

4) Is there a way to sex Quail and if so how is this done and how early? (we were told these are Cortunix Quail).

Thank you kindly for your time.
Kindest Regards

2) Is it too late in the season for me to hatch Quail? No. these quail can be hatched year around.

3) My usual set up for poultry is: Temp- 36.5 and Humidity 45% - is this correct for Quail too with the difference being that the Cradle is removed on day 14?

When you compare the throat and breast it's pretty easy to sex them. Coturnix mature very fast and can be sexed at six to eight week of age and maybe sooner.
