I got my quail two weeks ago. Only one is laying so far- So I was just wondering what others would do with the eggs when only getting one a day. I saw here a post saying you can store the eggs for 10 - 14 before incubation. I have 5 eggs now and was thinking of setting them and what ever else gets laid on Sunday. I should have 7- and thought that way I can set the eggs each Sunday for ease of remembering when they were set. Should I wait for more eggs each time and set less often - or would my plan to set weekly be OK?

This can be a bit tricky depending on what species of quail you have. As well as your goals.
If you have coturnix and are not wishing to expand at the moment, then I suggest you wash refrigerate and eat the eggs for the moment. They are tasty and I haven't purchased a chicken egg in about 3 years.

One egg a day presents a logistical nightmare to me because I wouldn't want to set 7-10 eggs every 7-10 days and deal with sets of chicks more than a week in age apart from each other. A week to a coturnix chick is a very long time. I guess I could do it, but not at the top of my list of things to do.

If you have coturnix and are wishing to expand then I would recommend this... Collect the egg for 7-10 days. Incubate, hatch, and brood the 0-10 chicks. Grow them out and add them to your egg producing stock. Rinse and repeat!

I didnt really have a goal in mind. It was actually my daughter who wanted them...But since I am the one feeding and caring for them...I guess they are mine alrady. They are white japs but I also have a tuxedo hen in with them. I dont actually want more adults at the moment. I have 11 already and only one pen to keep them in .

Then I would have to say that coturnix eggs are mighty tasty!
