bought eggs that are about 7 days old are they ok to be put in that late into the incubator??

with travel and age, the fertility rate tends to go down, on the other hand, for the price and ease, their's no harm in trying. it's not unheard of for store bought eggs to be fertile, but it's pretty hit or miss. candling after a week will reveal a lot and if you don't get any to survive, try another brand. the more free range/small farm they are, I would think the more likely they are to be fertile.

compared to the $60 I paid for a dozen lavender orp eggs I got off of e-bay, 8 hatched, 6 were roosters, one ended up severely lame... I've kind of swarn off paying good money for eggs that might not hatch. this spring the kiddos want to incubate again and we may just go the store bought route, it will be so much less stressful.
