I forgot to mention that an combiotic injection directly into the bumblefoot pad was also recommended when surgery was used. Even though I haven't done the invasive surgery the last couple times, I did inject with a combiotic on the worst ones. A combiotic is a blend of two types of antibiotics. The only one I could get around here was Combi-Pen 48 which is two types of Penicillin. I think the ones originally recommended are no longer available.

That's great space. I have some buildings tighter than that but they have free range most of the day.
Do they carry that in stores or do you need some sort of veterinary license to get this? Our tsc has lots of med should I look there, we also have a smaller farm store but they don't have a refrigerated section if that matters. Just before I go on the hunt I figured I would ask where I look, we have a lot of dairy farms but though lots of people have birds it's such a diverse area so there's not a ton of stuff just lots of poking around?

BBM you don't have to be afraid from the surgery! I did uf twice and it was perfect

16 chicks from hatch #2! So far
We had 17 from #1 and still have 13 in our house though all birds are doing well. Of them I think half are pullets so that's a few nice hens! These guys I seriously can't tell who the olive eggers are but some are so fluffy! I have one hatching and one pipped. And a whole bunch that may or may not hatch cause I was having a dreadful time seeing into these shells!! But I hope at the least these two hatch and the other 2 olive eggers hatch! I'm guessing slate legs is recessive- counting on the peacomb to give away who's got an Easter/olive egger mom... I thought it was the brown ones but there's one too many and I don't think we have twinsies so maybe it's a few of them or something... It will be clear when they start laying at the least though lol also poof cheeks!

Options are limited. I couldn't find what I was looking for at TSC but I got the combi-pen at Farm & Home across the street. You'll have to ask around. Perhaps call around before you do a lot of driving. They may have to go to their refrigerator and see what they have on hand.

It seems like most of what they have on hand are for horses and cattle.

I went to turn eggs this morning in the LG and they felt cold. Temp was 92. I hate this thing. Wish I could get the others finished. Too many things happing at once this time of year.

Quote: I agree @Beer can boxers are so cute! they do cut their tails way too close sorta like rotties, ours keep tails, tails are docted way below the butt sometimes even close to half is left for field flagging. I have already noticed the ones cut shorter seem to get the oozing and the longer they dont ooze at all afterwards.

Westley, I have missed you!!

oh crap, how long? I had half hatch on tiny serama at 58 over night, when they were around four days incu. and if you read posts, I have a terrible habit of unplugging the lights in the cooler when I candle and always forget to screw them back in all the way and on many occasions I dropped pretty low with LF without issues. But you know all this, but what you dont know is that I finally learned to unscrew one completely and lay it in with the eggs so I DONT forget to screw them back in.... thick headed
