I have a line on fully automatic 96 egg incubators from China.
I have no idea how much shipping is but there's a price break if I buy 30 or more.
The lid is transparent and runs on 12V,110V, 220V-240V or 12V&220V
Eggs turn every 2 hours, fully digital with a hatching days counter, turning counter and humidity automatically controlled and filled without opening.
$$$ ?

Well it took a bit but the rain has finally moved in and put a kink in my outdoor activities. Was about ready for a break anyway. Gonna pay for it tmrw but managed to get all the panels down and neatly stacked. Now for the fun part, I hate pulling post. Half are in concrete half are rotten at ground level.

I WANT THIS
That is awesome. I have something like that but not as pretty.

I believe she was too old to be broody. I'm not sure of that. Approximately 4 years. She was very tired at the 20th day. She was getting on and off the nest for food and water.
I don't think 4 is too old to be broody. I've had older hens than that be broody. My 7 year old ameraucana raised chicks last year. Actually she raised one or two broods a year from the time she was 1 till this year. I haven't had a single hen go broody this year. I think I have to swap some of the plastic nest pads for excelsior if I want a broody.
Too bad you didn't get a necropsy. If I have an unexplained death, I always either send the bird in or do it myself.

Much better than mine. They took a year to start laying. Then they did very well. Your right about the heat. Not liking it.
Are you referring to orps in general or lavenders? They are built for the cold, not heat. I've only had buffs but they started laying at about 24 weeks.

You need to get some Penedesencas. They're built for the heat. Predator proof. Pretty eggs too.

I WANT THIS

I will take one as well. Saw it back awhile ago but haven't been able to find any actual plans. I was curious just for a materials list to figure cost. Way out of my budget especially with the twins but hey I can dream right?

It looks like an octagon. Mine was supposed to be an octagon but I got lazy and ended up with a hexagon.
My materials cost was pretty low. I bought 3 pallets of cull lumber from Lowes for under 200. Add to that some hardware cloth for windows and some HDPE for floors and latch hardware. My forage areas are open though. That one looks pretty predator proof.

Thought I'd share the Christmas rope light/brooder idea again. This rope is warm to the touch and as you can see the chicks love it. I wound it on top of a piece of cardboard with a cut off box in top. Chicks are 3 days old if that and barn is 70* at night. I had to take them back from broody hen as she unfortunately died yesterday.
I love this idea!!!! Sorry about your broody.

I know, me too - SO bad!!!! But someone else has to build it... (as I prepare to go outside again fro more lumber prep...)

The only reason I haven't gotten a bunch of hatching eggs from you yet is that I need to settle down the chicken math a bit and figure out what my goals are, since my chicken numbers are a bit more than I would like at the moment. But you may hear from me in the next year or two.

(How big do they get by about 12 or 16 weeks?)

So the Sapphire that zipped partway 3 hours ago isn't making progress.... About an hour ago I broke off enough shell that its head is clear. It isn't trying to get out anymore, just breathing hard and opening and closing its eyes. It is probably exhausted as it has been working since 10 last night.... Is it okay to break off more? The CCL that pipped at the same time is out and with a fully internalized yolk.

I think it is having problems because of low bator humidity.... This one that is sorta stuck is the first to pip, and the first one to pip in my last batch was the one I had to help..... I don't know how I can get it any higher though. Put papertowel in the places beside the wells and mist the inside, maybe?? I have 5 bowls of water with papertowel in them and a washcloth in there, but I dunno why, it seems to lose humidity fast without me opening it.

I love them!! Mine started laying at about 8 months old. I don't know if your asking how many I have or how many eggs so I will answer both. I only have one hen and she will lay about 4-5 eggs a week. The past few days have been hot so she hasn't laid.

I have a waiting list on the Orpington chicks to so she needs to get laying.
