Yeah, learned that the hard way! I ride with an endurance saddle now, which has soft flaps, so you can ride in shorts no problem. Never, ever going back to western or english now.

Simco used to make an endurance saddle that I really liked; perhaps they still do. Quilted seat, high pommel, cut like a western, with plenty of rings for everything a trialer needs to carry. Unfortunately, I didn't have it long before I sold it, which was my business.

Sounds like the one I use. I really like the western cut, but got turned off of the true western saddles after getting punched in the stomach with the horn a few too many times.....

A few weeks after switching saddles, (a while back) I was out on a trail, and ran across a bee nest... Horse became an acrobat, and I landed right where the saddle horn would have been and slid onto his neck. (but kept my seat, somehow) That would have turned out MUCH worse if I had been using a western!

Makes perfect sense. Can't be a good salesman if you don't fully believe in the product. perfectly good logic in my book. I was just curious because I saw your wafer comment back on the HAL thread. That and I was thinking about it last night when considering all the mods I made to my LG in hopes of helping Banti. Now that mine is dialed in it seems to work well for me(as long as I remember to plug it in correctly) but I'm not convinced I would go the same route next time.
