Congratulations! After the bad hatches this is great. I am happy for you.
Thank you so much!! I did just take out 18 chicks, I have 1 zipping, 2 pips and 7 eggs doing nothing yet. 2 of them I thought were questionable anyway.

I realized that some of these babies are SO VERY TINY that I really can't put them in with anything bigger, so I stole the heat plate from my month old babies, and gave it to the 14 day old babies, and took their mama heating pad and gave it to the new babies.

The photos are blurry since my phone is refusing to focus. Fun stuff. It seems that most of those that hatched are from my backyard chickens. About half of TJ's eggs have hatched.

I have three Cream Legbar cockerels two are four and a half months, and the other is about seven weeks younger.
I will use one with my CL pullets and leghorns, and one with my production reds for green egg layers. If any of you have them what do you think?

Nothing's ever perfect in any bird, but I keep reading/hearing that conformation is the hardest thing to correct later, so things like a nice long back and tail angle may be chosen over coloring, and comb and earlobes more details (though a really bad comb may be a reason to pass in some folks opinions). Crisp barring in the tail is a nice feature (I see that clearly in that last image). But I do NOT have a ton of experience in detailed evaluation of CL boys, especially in weighing which faults to take and which to cull, etc., and would suggest posting these over on the Cream Legbar thread. Lots of friendly people who will give you good input to set you on the right track (esp. as I know you sell your chicks). I went through the mental exercise of evaluating my 6 CL boys that I hatched this winter, but in the end I culled them all as I decided to keep Dumbledore as the primary rooster and not grow up a "back up" at this time (trying to keep rooster numbers down). It was a valuable experience, though.

Hi All, Just n driving home and eating dinner I ended up 280 pages posts behind. Sorry if I miss any quotes. I love all the chckie photos. I will take photos after I move these guys out of the hatching bator.

They move way to fast, but I think I"m at 18 chicks, and 3 pips that I can see, and 9 eggs doing nothing. Considering I thought we only put in 13 eggs, my notes are way wrong. So, I'll need to figure out what I actually set 21 days ago.

Happy hatching everyone!!!
Don't sweat it - lots of them were posts of people smacking each other or talking about smacking each other or counting how many smacks they got or planning on the best strategy to get more smacks...

Well, I've been reading about copper bolusing and loose minerals and baking soda to prevent bloat and hoof care for goats...

:) Too cute!

I'm just seeing posts that he is having respiratory issues, and his family is concerned. He is on life support and is deteriorating rapidly.
They just announced his death a little while ago.

Good night everyone.
