And if taking her off the nest long enough to mark them makes her go un-broody, she aint serious.

Hello. Glad you found the eggs and were able to put them back. Any idea on how many they have?

That hen that's gone broody is still sitting tight, her wings spread out like a blanket, but I'm wondering if I should take her off the nest long enough to mark the eggs, and risk having her quit, It's been better than 2 days like that, and I haven't been able to catch her off the nest to poop or eat. She "growls" whenever I or another bird get too close,so I doubt she's let another bird lay an egg in her nest to this point.

The only other time one of my hens brooded, I didn't think to date any eggs, and she wound up with 12-15 eggs under her, none of which hatched.

I thought about putting her in a crate so the others can't get to her, but the only crates I have are too big to fit in the coop. I could crate her under the coop, or in the run, I guess.

Any suggestions?
I doubt is she would quit, she seems serious. Take her off and mark the eggs. I'd wear long sleeves and work gloves if I were going to pick her up.

Duckling woke, jumped (it sounded like) out of bed, opened her door, and called, "baby!" Apparently I'm supposed to soothe her doll when she gets thrown on the floor.

You didn't know this?

Okay....?

I have two cups of coffee before me. One is hot black coffee and the other is hot frufru coffee. Which do I drink first?

If she's not biting your hand just reach under her and take eggs mark them and put them back when you have all out. When I give hens marked eggs I usually put them around her front not under as she knows where to put them. If she runs off the nest she will more than likely come back.

A separate box may not work. I think it confuses them. I'll usually look for added eggs if I see her off the nest. Otherwise having incubator ready at hatch day will save a few that were added if she abandons them when the chicks start wandering off.
