Hello everyone. .iI use wanted to say it's really hard to keep up with this thread. . Good fun though..
My chicks are due on 18th..
Hatching Delawares and barred rocks.. having a hard time not counting them before the hatch.
I've been talking to them.. I call them all girls. hope it doesn't give the roosters a complex..

so far the incubator running good.. noticed 2 spikes of 102. Sometime during night..Recorded on the thermometer. When I checked it temp was back to normal... anyway that's my update..good luck to everyone on their hatches..

. They are already shipped out so this is amazing information for my next order.

Actually, I also need to add that ordered a dozen speckled Sussex but I forgot I had put a bid on eBay for a couple days ago. So that means I have almost 40 eggs headed my way. I haven't told my husband about that mistake yet.
ha ha ha addicted much!!!

good job!!!

Thanks, Sally! I read a long thread on the Incuveiw just the other day, but can't seem to find it now. Most people that tried it were thrilled with it. The main issue was capacity, but other than that, it appears to be holding very steady temp and humidity. It's been "breaking in" for about 4 hours now, and the temp hasn't fluctuated over 1 degree F, even with my wife heating and steaming up the house while cooking supper. I'm getting quite higher readings on temp and humidity with the IncuTherm that I purchased with the bator. 2.0F - 2.2F higher than the thermometer on the lid, and humidity on the IncuTherm shows 67%, the gauge on the lid is just 2/3 of the "incubation range". A traditional thermometer set at egg-top height is reading 98F. Maybe I'm just overthinking everything, but I want everything to be as perfect as possible before setting those first eggs. I removed the lid this evening to pour the water out of the outer ring and try the middle ring to see if I could drop the humidity a bit, and when I went to replace the lid, the unit shut off. I started checking connections, and when I'd move the transformer a certain way, it would lose power. Sounds like a faulty connection, even though the unit would turn back on after a few seconds. I don't think transformers have tip-over safety switches, so I'll be giving Incubator Warehouse a call in the morning, The last thing I need is to lose power to the unit during the middle of incubation...

hmmm I have no clue on that lid, I would check that forum or send a email/call like you said

@Sally Sunshine ha ha ha addicted much!!! :gig :gig I was addicted before I set my first egg! I already have ducks and seem to accumulate them, not really sure how. I think they just look at me and I'm hooked! good thinking!! use it!! I thought we were!!! :idunno thats mine and I have serama to set soon too! fertility check.... You are...:ya. I didn't realize we were on a similar schedule! I looked at getting Serama's I read they were kind of hard to hatch. I opted to go with something more standard and not dropping a bunch of money and possibly making another rookie mistake like the last hatch.

Thanks Sally for the information on how to request shipped eggs. Good stuff, and for the price that hatching eggs cost, it should not be considered unreasonable to have those requests met.

Huh? If I get calls, even the boys will lay early in the year? I'm raising the wrong breed. Sorry Ravyn, I couldn't resist yanking your chain there!!!

So, the lady at the feed store told me about the key on a string gender technique. I just asked in the gender forum if anyone had heard of it and if it works with eggs. I got a response that an old timer said so. I'm going to test it with these duck eggs I set on Sunday and mark them male and female when I candle them

Haha, ain't that the truth. I may fill up a whole page with posts of pictures of and questions about my chickies.

I don't ask hubby, it is just something we don't talk about, although he can see the incubator running...he just pretends he doesn't see it.
