morning Phil!

Hey CC how goes sorry I missed you. I had to take off. Sorry to the rest of my friends here too I get too busy to keep up and I miss your post.....but you all know who you are. Happy Father's day all you dad's....

I had an old Pontiac Tempest SW with a lot of miles on it like your Jeeps. Never had to change the oil; it leaked so much all I had to do was top it off & it was always fresh. That thing had a 4 cyl engine, 2 bbl carb, & floor stick...pass anything but a gas station.

A bigger engine probably would have got Better mileage.....it wouldn't have had to work so hard.

Morning all! Chilling on the north patio with some Jameson infused coffee to help with the arthritis flare up I have going on.

Oh, man, sorry about the arthritis, but that sounds good! Hey, my knee is killing me, maybe....

(No, wait, then I won't get anything done today.

Thank you Sally!!!! My Bday was actually Thursday. I took a little 4 day vacation!! Got home last night. I am celebrating my birthday with my folks together with Father's day today, so your wishes are perfectly timed!!!

Have a great day today!!!
Happy belated birthday!

So, the Cream Legbar pullet is NOT doing well. This AM she was just standing still letting her wings droop and panting (it was <80F). I picked her up and brought her into the mudroom brooder - it was like picking up a bundle of feathers, and keel is at stage 1 - the stage where survival is unlikely (according to the chart I have seen). I hate that chickens hide that they are sick or injured so well for so long (not that I can do anything for her). I dread that this is going to happen to all the pullets in that group (all daughters of hens with Mareks, in retrospect).

Ok guys, I have decided to stop hatching seramas, I want to do a new breed. If anyone has any ideas Here is my want list for them.

Hardy
Fairly easy to hatch
Dual purpous
Pretty
broody

I might think of more, Right now I am thinking orpingtons
Have you narrowed it down yet?

Where are you located?
IMHO, climate should be the first consideration in selecting a short list.
I then recommend people not overlook all the great but obscure breeds.
I especially think that way because I just don't want to do what everyone else does.
When I had Welsummers and wanted more dark egg breeds I opted against Marans because so many people have them. That left me with a choice between Barnevelders and Penedesencas.
Easy to hatch would depend on the genetic line.
Dual purpose and tendency to be setters gives you the following:
Java http://www.javabreedersofamerica.com/
Holland http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/CGD/Holland/BRKHolland.html
Dorking http://dorkingbreedersclub.webs.com/
Faverolle http://faverollesfanciers.webs.com/apps/photos/
Houdan http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/CGD/Houdan/BRKHoudan.html
Delaware http://delawarepoultryclubunited.weebly.com/
Langshan http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/CGK/Langshan/BRKLangshan.html
Manx Rumpy http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/CGP/Rump/BRKRumpless.html

Cubalaya https://livestockconservancy.org/index.php/heritage/internal/cubalaya
Australorp
Orpington
Plymouth Rock (though I've never had a rock go broody),

Pretty: pick your variety within the suggested breeds

By the way, Black Penedesencas fit that description too.

Are you sure it's Marek's?

Breeding for resistance is the way to go, as long as you can afford losses.

I just happened to come out to sit on the front sun porch. I can't say that I normally sit here! There is a sign on the door that says, "please use back door". That in itself kind of says that this room is not often used. I noticed something orange on one of the windows. Yada yada. Pay taxes. We are going to sell your house. Blah blah! It scared the poop out of me until I actually read it.

It's under $900, and I have over a year to pay.

I don't know why (yes, I do. I just won't go into it) taxes haven't been paid, but I think I can get it taken care of pretty quick! Oh, the fear I felt! LOL!
Oh, Lovely
Just what everyone wants to find on a quiet Sunday afternoon.
I'm sure you'll get it all straightened out.
