I just went outside again, and I do in fact have two hens brooding together. That is something that their sisters, aunts, mothers, grandmothers... have done for years without issue. They are even capable of sharing one chick.
I am guessing that I have fresh eggs in that box, so the one that went broody today can sit until the last of them are hatched. No incubator for me!

lol
more coffee warming for you then
Took my two littles outside for the first time today, they were very unsure and stayed so close I could hardly step back to take a picture.

They will be two weeks old tomorrow.

LOL so cute, spoiled chicks!!!

For anyone that's interested, here is the chart I use to track the weights of chicks:

In it are four charts

This one just charts their weight from the day they hatch

This lines up to day zero for all chicks and plots their gains and losses from day zero

This shows the losses and gains for the first ten days

This calculates the four medications shown based on the most current weight of a chick

Mornin Sunshine, you set those eggies yet? :hugs

I keep on having mice run in front of me whenever I close up the coop late..... I don't keep feed out at night, but I think some feed spills. Do yall have ideas for spill-proof feeders or mice traps? I hate to kill em, they are so cute but I want less feed waste and dont fancy the mice attracting weasels......

Not sure there is a spill proof feeder, although several claim to be. I thought my gravity-fed PVC feeder was the answer, but the girls eventually figured out how to slop feed on the ground in spite of me.

I was thinking of C & C cubing ziptied onto a bowl, with openings just big enough for them to eat, but not dump or scratch about in...
