Good morning everyone.

Broody hen could not figure what pile of eggs she wanted to set so I moved her to a separate pen with her eggs. May have cured her of setting.

Hi Pensmaster! From the laughing I assume you are ok with her not setting.

I swapped my broody hen's eggs last evening successfully. Took the 7 she had and gave her the 8 I want. She didn't seem to mind, say right on them when she returned to the nest.

I don't believe they would need any heat source then.

The chicks are 11 days old now. They are so sweet that it is tempting to keep them inside forever....

Yes I'm quite done with broodies. However if I go out this morning and she's back on them I may give her new eggs.

They're about 6 weeks. Feathering looks pretty good, and they'll be cooped overnight

My chicks get weaned completely off heat by 3-5 weeks in lower temps than that..... (Past batches were out at 45-50° temps and not using the heating pad, which they knew how to use. They'll be fine)

They are hardier than we give them credit for.
