INCUBATING w/FRIENDS! w/Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs No problem!

Just thought I would say I started my first incubation yesterday morning. Got a dozen mutt eggs put in place in still-air LG with the little turner to make life easier for me (as long as it works, right?).

Humidity has stayed between 47 and 49 % and the temperature has held absolutely still at 100 on the digital thermometer, 101 on the...non-digital?

Here's hoping it stays this steady for the next three weeks!
Good luck! Did you calibrate the hydro. and thermometers?

Kathy, did you ever eat a peafowl?
Have Kathy send on my way. I know that my Oldest DD would love to cook one up!

No, but I've thought about it! -Kathy
I wonder what will be the taste and the textures , I think that it will resemble a free range turkey

Seems very good!

I'm aware of them and I wish more people would pick an old breed that needs help and work with them like this person is to try to return them to how and why they were developed in the first place. That's what I try to do with mine.
The only problem I have with Crevecoeur, Polish, Houdans and the like is the crests make them vulnerable to hawks and other predators.

Cool. I grabbed a book gonna read up on it with kids (is a ffa) endoursed guide.

This is another interesting breed that will interest you IMO.

And yet, you still have not figured out the toilet paper roll, or the toilet seat!
Or how to read instructions!
Well, I got all seven processed in about 2-2.5 hours or so (skinning). Cried with each one - but was grateful that I've done this enough now to make each a very clean death. The worst part was finding this inside one of them - she would have laid her first egg today. The other CL (eight pullet) did survive the night and went back to the coop to look for the rest, so I caught her and closed the book on this whole thing. I got my weekly weights on the others, now I'm back inside having more coffee, and crying again. I've culled before, a number of times. And I am at peace with the reasons I had for culling these pullets. I just wish I didn't feel like such a monster. :( - Ant Farm
So sorry!! :hugs
Hi I got good news my chicks are getting better
Did you treat them with the meds?
Congratulations @BantyChooks , I just saw that your ducks are the "Other Poultry Types PIC of the Week" Banty's duck pics here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/the-ducks-of-turtle-rock-farm
Thanks!

@runt325

Keep the corid on hand--You will need it again next time you have chicks--and remember to complete both the treatment and the resistance courses:

5-7 days at treatment strength and the 5-7 days at the lower resistance building dosage.

Watch them after the two courses are finished too. Sometimes it comes back if you have a very bad strain of cocci.
