@mlm Mike Do you have any tips on how to pick up a duck? My Pekins are not a problem, but the Muscovies are very different! I don't want to be scratched up like that again.

No, sorry, but I really don't pick them up. All my poultry is on the wild/flighty side. I grab legs if getting for processing, if I need to look at if I suspect injury or illness I use old towel to wrap them in.@mlm Mike Do you have any tips on how to pick up a duck? Quote: Muscovy ducks have very long toenails, so I find that I must grab both legs, then restrain both wings, or I will end up with scratches and ripped clothing.

Quote: The bigger birds like peas and Muscovy ducks can be dangerous, and I have scars from both to prove it! I'm pretty tuff, but I think twice now when it come to wrangling them. Remind me to tell you about my 12 pound peahen that is so wild that I have to treat her in the dark if I have to treat her without help. Truly scary bird that left my thighs covered in bruises.

The second one is funny! This one is too funny!
Well... Tell me! LOL! Okay, so there is nothing wrong with the fact that I need protective wear for catching a Muscovy. And, that I need tools. I don't think I will ever try to do that again. The bigger birds like peas and Muscovy ducks can be dangerous, and I have scars from both to prove it!
