Not that you are counting.

Yeah! Some of us are alone. By ourselves. No one to love. No one to care. No one. :hit
:D
Are you stapling the chickens to the wall again?
Actually, just finishing coop skirts, and building a grow out pen for the HRIR boys.
I am greatful for my Savior Jesus Christ. He is the lover of my soul so I am never truly alone. I have also been blessed with a couple of good friends.
:hugs

I don't know why anyone would paint the inside anyway. No real point in it that I can see. I've yet to hear a chicken complain.
I paint the inside of all my buildings with a thick coat of either oil paint or high gloss latex.
I originally only painted the bottom 2' of wall. The point is that at least once a year, I completely empty buildings and pressure wash them. Without paint, that water would penetrate the wood.

Same...... I guess it gives the wood protection, but white?? I'd choose something that would blend in better.
I use white because I can tell how clean or dirty it is when I scrape and wash.

I don't know about protection, either. It's in out of the elements; shouldn't be a problem, unless the roof leaks. I built my 1st coop 20 years ago,an 8'x10' walk-in. Never did a thing to the interior walls or floor, and they're in good shape today.
It makes it easier to remove all dust and disinfect what would be in crevices and imperfections in the wood.
Even if I don't pressure wash, most dust gets removed with the shop vac.

True! I keep forgetting there are actually coops that don't get soaked when it rains.

The outside gets soaked but not the inside.

I just wait for an outdoor oops paint that is tolerable. i use it inside to make cleaning the walls easier. Currently mine has green and beige.

...
I do that too. They've raised the price on those cans though.

Actually, better not make the new coop too cushy; I might want to move in.

I think I've fallen asleep in mine before. Good thing the chickens were fed.

Don't you have children?

I weighed myself a bit ago. I somehow lost another 2 1/2 lbs.
I only lost 1.

Good morning all!

Last night my daughter and I had dinner with a friend. On our way home, as we were coming over the hill into our valley we saw about 10 cars stopped on the side of the road (no stopping allowed on this road). We pulled over a little further down the road to see what what they were looking at. The next town over was just starting their fireworks show. We got to sit in the car, all alone, several miles away, and look DOWN on the exploding fireworks. My daughter doesn't like loud noises, so with the car closed up tight, we could only BARELY hear the booms, so I turned the radio on for her. As people were traveling over that road, they would see the fireworks and pull over. So, by the time the show was over, there were a LOT more cars than when we started.

Now I have to go out and deal with broody hens. 2 that are broody are sitting on unfertile eggs. Every single egg I've gotten from that pen has been infertile. I'm going to move them into a protected area and give them a couple of eggs that are about 5 days away from hatching. The silkie broody that is already moved into a protected area seems to have kicked out an egg and broke it, so I have some clean up to do.

Happy hatching everyone!!!
It rained here for about 30 hours and it was so foggy, you couldn't see the fireworks.
I only got about 2" of rain but it never stopped so I got zero work done outside yesterday. It was hit and miss on how strong the storms were. Not far from me, they got 7".

How old is the rooster in that pen?

I had an egg due yesterday about this time. It pipped on time but was only partially zipped when I went to bed. I took the chick out this morning. It's leg, beak and feather color were nearly perfect - and it came from a dark egg.
In a bit, I'm going to put it in with 3 chicks that hatched a week ago.
