I really need to move the broodies. Like tonight, tomorrow at the latest. I just can't decide which place to put them!
Uhhh...next to your bed? Or is that a 'bators only location?

I'm glad that there was some improvement.  Where did you get all the supplements to give her?  Sorry about the pin cushion effect.  I'd gag too on all the stuff you gave orally!!!  I hope that tonight she's even better!
Well, I got mine from my vet. I only keep penicillin on hand and it did not help so I needed the LA300. I bought extra of the others to supplement my first aid supplies I keep for horses, cows, chickens, and goats. I did not realize I was so low on some stuff.

More planning on my part is in store. Mine was one of the quick fix places. Tomorrow will be better
You will have to share!

I think pears is better!

I have a Maran, an Orpington Wyandotte cross, a Pekin Barbu D'Uccle cross and two Sebrights. The new chicks are a Araucana, two Cream Legbars and a Light Sussex. I still have a Maran chick in the egg which i hope will hatch today or tomorrow. It pipped internally in the last 24hrs but hasn't pipped externally yet. It's terribly hard to resist intervening and let nature take it's course. The foster mother abandoned the eggs once she had some chicks so I'm actually brooding in my bra as i don't have an incubator.
A heat lamp with a dish of water or wet cloths nearby. Bras work too.

Looking for opinions about something... I ordered 27 eggs to incubate. The hatchery guarantees 80% fertility. I candle the eggs after 7 days and 8 are completely clear with no signs of development, while the other 19 are all very visibly developing (the eggs are white and I can see embryos and veining just smaller then the size of a half dollar). I crack open the 8 eggs with no sign of life, sure enough, normal egg. NO development at all and NO sign of fertilization. I call the hatchery and was told (in a way that made me feel like I was a clueless idiot) that I cant tell if the eggs are fertile after 7 days of incubation. I shouldnt have opened the eggs, I should have put them back in the incubator because... heres the good part... IT CAN TAKE THE EGGS LONGER THAN 7 DAYS TO START DEVELOPING. I told her there was no indication of the eggs being fertile and no development AT ALL but I was told again I should have put them back in, they just hadnt started yet. Ive personally never experienced spontanious development after a week in an incubator but what are your thoughts/experiences?
I honesty did not see any development until day ten in some of my eggs.

Lots of quotes missing Sorry!

There is a dead smell coming from under Stevie Nicks. I will investigate later.
Bonnie Tyler is laying on the floor. I think she is covering my duck egg, and maybe more. Silly girl.

I need my bed,
Good night to all freinds! The a old as the new!

Sleep well, and rise refreshed my friend.
When I was young, I did not understand wishing a good night, or asking about someone's night because you slept and got up. Ah, youth.

I don't think it is as obvious in the picture, but doesn't that look like a hatchery barred rock, and bigger than the others? Correction, the red one is an adult. But the BR looks bigger than the other two pullets to me.

Hello, everyone. Just popping in to give a quick update on the new coop. I'm still not through with it, but every time I turn around there's something new to add. The storm that blew through yesterday slowed me down, and the morning rain today didn't help either. I'm taking a break from the coop to install soffit vents on the house. My new A/C unit isn't keeping pace with the high temps and humidity, so venting the attic should help... at least a little bit. Anywho... on with the show. Please excuse my slow southern drawl... I've lived in MS long enough that it finally soaked in. :lau
WOW!!! JOEY!! That is an AMAZING coop!! What is your rate? I need one of those. :bow
I'm here! How are you? I have 12 eggs in my incubator and 24 more coming this week. Can't wait to see what happens. Just printed off a TON of hatching information from the files here. SO MUCH USEFUL INFORMATION!!!!!
Welcome!!
Hi everyone. I live in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire where we have rolling green hills around us. We are 40 miles north of London, which takes an hour to get to by train. I've been reading the forum for ages and have found some really useful information on it. I've got 5 hens in my garden and 4 chicks hatched a week ago. It was my first chicks so I've been really excited about them.
Welcome!!
:frow @Akrnaf2 I guess I am a blabber mouth (that and I can't get the multi quote over from one page to the next when I am catching up) as I am approaching my first year and 4,000
Hey, we joined in the same month & year! How cool is that! We'll both be celebrating 1 year at about the same time. :highfive:
Uhhh...next to your bed? Or is that a 'bators only location? :p
:lau Only bators and new chicks go by my bed, adults go downstairs.
