INCUBATING w/FRIENDS! w/Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs No problem!

Dear fellow hatchaholics.
Today is day 18 (or 19) and 12 for my broody girls. As you have read, all eggs were undeveloped and rotten. The reason is unclear. I have had great hatches in the incubator with these eggs.
I do not want more birds, and I was only doing this because I have wanted a broody this year so bad. "Watch what you wish for. You just might get it!"
I would have sold the chicks.
That being said, I still have two girls that are laying flat as pancakes tonight. Should I:

Give them fresh eggs, and let them brood another three weeks?

Give them a few day-olds from someone else, only taking and keeping four?

Break the brood?

Give them a goat?
If they've been brooding for over 3 weeks already, I wouldn't give them eggs.
If you give them chicks, try for 1 or 2 days old. The older they get the more independent and the less likely they'll be to adopt the mother than she will be to adopt them.
Do you have a wire bottom cage you can elevate? Chicks may be best but you can still break them, it will just take a bit longer and they won't be happy with you.
Give them a goat? What's that?

Wow, really? That's weird ..... and amazing!
I couldn't figure out what was going on. I had all the eggs marked under broodies in adjacent nests. But they were elevated nests with dividers between them so they couldn't roll between the nests. One day there would be eggs from one nest in the other. The next day they'd be mixed up again. That went on for days.
My animal behavior consultant friend told me how they did it. I never really witnessed it. I should have installed a coop cam.

She is learning the stuff like that from me. She is diving off the recliners onto the dog bed in between - head first- by herself.
Sounds like my daughter. She'll be an independent one.

Well, my night stunk. I came home to the welding guy wanting eighty more and my cat laying on the bathroom floor in his pee struggling to breath. I took him to the emergency clinic and paid seventy five dollars to have him die less then ten minutes into the visit.
Ash you will be missed

I'm sorry!
Appliance repairman charged 145 to repair the refrigerator yesterday. I had just spent a bunch of money the day before on glasses.
I knew what was wrong with the fridge but couldn't figure out how to get to it. I could have looked it up but didn't have the time to do it. He ended up having to take the freezer compartment apart completely.

Now I'm down to 10 hens. I lost the first hen ever - midday. I was setting up traps and cameras when I noticed the rooster from the east coop was with only one hen. I went back to the coop to see if she was in there and immediately came upon her remains. Basically just feathers and a wing. Could have been a coyote, fox, dog or hawk.
I set up a camera so the remains and a box trap wired open were in frame of view. This morning, the remains were gone and so was the bait in the trap. I took the memory card inside and there isn't a picture on it.

That adds insult to injury.
I have 3 other cameras to check but the other trap caught nothing.

That sucks. I hope you get it soon, my traps are not catching anything either, but at least I am not loosing birds. :hugs
I really hope your hatch goes well. Let me know if you want a few point of lay pullets while you reestablish your beloved pas.

'Bout time!

We were about to send the dogs looking for you.
Had you asked, Chaos would have told you.

Good morning to all.

The goat is a joke because so many people are being tempted to buy goats.
They have not been sitting for three weeks yet, but sitting too long was a concern for me. I do have an elevated open bottomed cage. I am sure breaking will be torture, but if I must, I must.
I would get day olds.

Yes, Duckling will be an adventurous one. If I have the chance, I want a woman that knows how to be a lady, but can have fun getting dirty and be a little crazy too.

I am so very sorry for your predator struggles. I can see how that is enough to send you through the roof.
