A motorcycle friend of mine earned the nickname of "Gary the Deer Hunter" because he hit three deer in the years that he rode on the street.

NO THANKS!

He probably wouldn't have been as lucky if it had been Moose.

Hi Kathy! Somehow, on a motorcycle, I think he paid the price more than the deer did.....

A different roommate took out a bear with his pickup truck at about 60 mph. That was a ****** off bear!
i screamed and cried when i ran over a chipmunk in high school
and have only hit one other animal since, and was very upset but kept it together
i care about the deer you hit

Awww thanks! I hit nothing else while living at the ski resort, but while I was living in Samoa, I hit a puppy - I will NEVER get over that one. About 6 months later, I was driving over a different road and a CHICKEN flew in front of me. It bounced off my windshield - it seemed to be ok though. That is the sum total of my vehicular animal slaughter.

I would think that would be a rather angry bear! Yeah I hit a dog a few weeks ago, the day after the people brought it home, it got road rash pretty bad but was otherwise fine

A good friend of mine got killed when he hit a deer on his bike.....right here behind my house.....on the hiway....dam deer was coming to my freaking garden......

Hi everyone!

Hi!

Obviously, I know a lot of people that have hit dear while riding. The only time that it has killed anyone, is the friend that was on a trike. The accident flipped the trike over, and it landed on top of him, crushing him.
He had been going very slowly, because he saw the deer. Had he be riding on two wheels, he would have lived. The bike would not have lain on top of him.

Is that common with trike accidents? The actual flipping over?

As I get closer to hatch date, I'm wondering...is it okay to set up a li'l brooder in my kids' play house? It doesn't get a lot of airflow, but I can open the door during the day. I'm in TN, so it's in the 90s. Just curious if that would be too stifling hot or if it'll work for new chicks. I also have a heat lamp I set up in the past, but that was in my basement. We no longer have access to the basement as someone is living down there.

And if it's okay to keep them in the playhouse, should I leave the door open all day and close it up with night, only turn the heat lamp on if the temp gets below 95 in the playhouse, both, neither?

Thanks in advance! You guys are the best!!!

I would be worried about the playhouse getting too warm during the day, thu can't regulate body temp so they need to have a warm spot 95* and a cooler spot where they can escape the heat, you drop the temp by 5*/week

If you can make a little run out for them I think thy would be fine, just keep an eye on the to make sure they are able to get in and out easily and they cant escape the run

Feed medicated feed too to prevent cocci

Thanks so much! I was afraid of the excessive heat also. May just give a mini-run a shot. Or will just keep 'em here in the house. Just put a sound machine between my bedroom and them. Hahaha...

And medicated feed, indeed!
